What "near me" really means for web design
When someone types "website designer near me", they're not usually looking for the closest address on the map. They're asking three real questions: Can we talk during my work hours? Does this person understand my city and my customers? If something goes wrong, can I actually reach them?
You can't get those from a global marketplace that routes your project to a contractor on another continent. The time-zone math alone kills the project — you leave a Monday-morning voicemail and get a reply Tuesday night. Our clients tell us the hidden cost of hiring remote is the three-week lag that turns a 5-day build into a 6-week slog.
Local means synchronous. Means we're in the same news cycle, the same tax bracket (your business pays California state tax, so do we), the same traffic. If you call at 10am Tuesday, you reach a person at 10:04am Tuesday. That's the actual value of "near me", and it's why Google ranks local businesses first for this query — because that's what the searcher wants.
Why local matters
- Same time zone. We're both on Pacific. Mornings mean the same thing to us as they do to you. No "I'll get back to you tomorrow" that lands Thursday at 4am your time.
- We understand your market. If you run a taco shop in Boyle Heights, we don't need you to explain what a mariscos menu is or why Tuesday nights matter. If you run a nail salon in Pacoima, we know the clientele skips English and texts in Spanish. If you're a dentist in Downey, we've already built four of those sites.
- In-person meetings available. Not required — plenty of our clients prefer Zoom. But the option exists. We've driven to shops in East LA, Van Nuys, Compton, Long Beach, Downey, El Monte, Pico Rivera, Lynwood and more to walk through what the owner wants.
- Local referrals. We've built sites for 7 verticals across Greater LA. When your realtor needs a website and asks for a recommendation, we can point you to each other. That doesn't happen with a remote freelancer.
- Compliance that matters here. California-specific stuff: ADA accessibility lawsuits, Prop 65 disclosures for retail, LA County business license display requirements. Studios outside CA often miss these.
Our LA studio
TopWebLA is a boutique studio with three founders — David Schmitd, Alex Castro, and Misael Nava — all based in Greater Los Angeles. Our clients and work are concentrated in Southeast LA, San Fernando Valley, and San Gabriel Valley Latino hubs, but we serve the full LA metro and go up to Orange County and parts of San Bernardino.
What that looks like in practice:
- Service area. LA County from the coast to San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley north to Santa Clarita, parts of OC (Anaheim, Santa Ana, Fullerton) and nearby SB cities within an hour of our base.
- Meeting formats. At your business, at a coffee shop near you, or over Zoom. We don't run a public office — we're distributed, like most modern studios — but we show up where you are.
- Hours. Monday–Friday 9am–6pm Pacific for calls and meetings. Project work happens outside those hours too, but response time is during business hours.
- Response time. Within 4 business hours on email, same-hour on WhatsApp during business hours.
What we design
Small-business websites and bilingual (EN/ES) sites are our two specialties. If your business falls into one of these buckets, you're in the right place:
Single-location small businesses
Restaurants, salons, auto repair, dental, wellness, contractors, retail. One address, strong local SEO, bookings or quotes online.
Service-area businesses
Catering, mobile mechanics, event rentals, home services. Service radius covered correctly, GBP set up as service-area, bookings via calendar sync.
Bilingual sites (EN/ES)
Fully translated with proper hreflang, Spanish-native copy (not Google Translate), language toggle, SEO configured for both languages.
Multi-location or franchise
Up to 10 locations with their own landing pages, consistent brand, local SEO per location.
E-commerce (small catalog)
Up to 100 products, Stripe/PayPal, shipping, inventory. If you need Shopify Plus with 10,000 SKUs, we'll refer you.
Lead-gen landing pages
Single-page conversion sites for businesses running Google or Meta ads. Form, call tracking, Analytics 4 setup.

Cities we serve
We have dedicated local pages for most of Greater LA. If your city is here, we've already built sites in your area:
Don't see yours? We cover 66 LA / SoCal cities with dedicated pages, plus Phoenix, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Miami and Chicago metros for fully-remote clients. Just ask.
Why clients pick us over bigger agencies
- Faster. 5-day delivery on a landing page. Most LA agencies take 6-12 weeks for the same deliverable.
- Published prices. No sales call to find out what things cost. Decide from your couch.
- Bilingual included. Agencies charge $2,000+ as an add-on. We include it from Pro Business up.
- You own everything. Code, domain, hosting, Google accounts — all in your name, from day one.
- You talk to the builder. No project manager layer between you and the person coding the site.
- Real local case studies. Links to live sites. You can call our clients and ask.
Frequently asked
Do you actually meet in person?
Yes. For projects in Greater LA we offer an in-person kickoff meeting at your business or at a coffee shop near you. It's included in Pro Business ($1,997) and Deluxe ($3,497), optional for Essential. We cover LA County and nearby OC and SB cities within an hour of our base.
Are you really based in LA or is this a redirect?
Really LA. Our team lives in East LA, Downey, and San Fernando Valley. We're not a national marketplace routing you to a contractor overseas. Three Latino co-founders, all US-based, bilingual EN/ES. See our about page for photos and bios.
What's your turnaround?
5 days for a one-page site ($797). 10-14 days for a 5-page site ($1,997). 18-25 days for a booking or shop site ($3,497). 25-30 days for a full launch with brand + ads ($7,997).
Can we visit your office?
We're a distributed studio, so we don't run a storefront. We meet at your business, at a coffee shop near you, or over Zoom — whichever works best. For clients outside the hour radius, we work fully remote and the quality is the same.
Is your team bilingual?
Yes. All three founders speak native Spanish and English. We write copy, run meetings, and support in both languages at no extra charge. Our bilingual EN/ES feature on every site is included from the Pro Business tier up.
Do you handle hosting and domain too?
Year 1 of hosting and the .com domain is included in every package, in your name. Year 2 onward: you take it over (around $15-30/month), or stay on our $97/month maintenance plan which bundles hosting, backups, SSL, security patches, and minor changes.
