Short answer (TL;DR)
Yes, and we encourage it. For Essential and Pro Business tiers we provide a one-page onboarding video showing exactly how to update prices, add a photo, or change hours. For Deluxe and Enterprise we install Decap CMS or similar point-and-click editing. If you get stuck, we offer flat-fee micro-updates: $30 for a text change, $50 for a photo swap. No monthly retainer required.
Extended answer
A common fear with custom-coded websites: "if I can't log in and edit it myself, I'm locked in forever." Valid concern. Here's how we solve it at every tier.
Essential and Pro Business: direct-edit workflow
Your site lives in a GitHub repo (you own it). To change text or prices, you edit the HTML file in a browser (GitHub's web editor) or on your phone (Working Copy app). We provide a 5-minute onboarding video showing exactly which file to open and which line to change. 90% of our clients only ever change text, prices, hours — all of which take 30 seconds.
Pros: no monthly CMS cost, your site stays blazing fast (no CMS overhead), security remains near-zero attack surface.
Cons: not as "click to edit" as Wix.
Deluxe and Enterprise: Decap CMS or similar
For clients who want true point-and-click editing, we install Decap CMS (previously Netlify CMS). You log in to admin.yoursite.com, see a WYSIWYG editor for all your content, make changes, click Publish. Decap commits to your GitHub repo and Vercel rebuilds in 30 seconds. Zero monthly cost (fully open source), zero vendor lock-in.
For e-commerce in Deluxe, Shopify handles its own product/pricing updates through Shopify admin — nothing new to learn beyond standard Shopify.
Micro-updates (all tiers)
If you don't want to touch the code at all, we offer flat-fee micro-updates:
- Text change: $30 (24 hour turnaround)
- Photo swap or add: $50
- New section on existing page: $150
- New page: $200
- Full section redesign: $400
All transparent, flat-rate, no surprises. We prefer this over a $200/month retainer because 90% of businesses only need updates 2-3 times per year. Pay-per-task saves you $2,000+/year.
What NOT to try changing yourself:
Structural layout, color palette, navigation menu, SEO tags, schema markup, or anything touching mobile responsiveness. One small change in CSS can break 10 pages. Save yourself the headache — those are $30-$150 tasks for us.
What IS safe to change:
Pricing numbers, hours, phone, address, service descriptions, team member names, testimonial quotes, photo swaps where you keep the same aspect ratio. These are literally one-line edits.
